So get this.
I woke up this morning tired of course from packing late at night.
I checked my flight status when I woke up to see where I was at since it's totally foggy out. Status: On Time.
I printed off my boarding pass and headed to my friend's house who was driving me to the airport in Mosinee, WI. I decided to check the status one more time. Status: On Time.
I get to the small Central Wisconsin Airport (CWA) and check status on the monitor. Status: On Time.
I decided I had just enough time to get through security with my little roller suitcase, laptop and carry on bag and get to use the restroom before I board. I thought great! I barely have to sit and wait before I board since my flight status said ON TIME!
I sat down and waited... Hmmmmm... the flight that was dropping people off from Chicago hadn't come in yet and it was time to board. Weird!
Then after all this time an announcement comes on.
"Flight will be delayed 2 hours, check at the service desk to reschedule any connections that conflict."
HOW FRUSTRATING!
So I got out back through security since my flight was in fact in much conflict with this sad delay. Turns out that they knew since early this morning the flight wasn't going to leave on time but their computers hadn't updated.
I get to the kiosk and the kind lady rebooked my flight for a later time out of Chicago. I thanked her graciously since I got one of the last open seats. After I pulled my thoughts together I decided to go upstairs to the restaurant to have a cup of joe. This generally makes me feel happy in any occasion. I read for about an hour and fifteen minutes and then went downstairs to sit and wait some more. About 5 minutes after I sat down I hear through the man sitting next to me that my flight was still in Chicago. His wife was still in Chicago upset that her flight was cancelled, yes, my flight that I was suppose to jump on once they got in. That's right... another curve ball.
I quickly ran to the kiosk thinking that I'd get a head start since they did not actually make an announcement -- right. Thank you Lord that I was sitting next to this kind man who was on the phone with his wife. I did get ahead of the majority of people because I heard the news before an announcement was made. The kind lady that rebooked my flight earlier was kind and light in spirit. She was aware of my sob story that I would be photographing a wedding in Colorado Springs and was already missing the pre-wedding festivities and did whatever she could to get me out today.
So here I am now. Awaiting the next flight the kind lady booked me on. This flight however does not depart until 6:12 PM central time and per the kind lady will most likely be delayed since everything else has been delayed. My connecting flight in Chicago is scheduled for 8:50PM. She said that she hopes I make it despite the flight delays. Me too. Did I forget to mention that there are thunderstorms in Chicago all day today too? So yeah... another possibility of me not leaving and getting stuck in Chicago airport overnight. The kind lady was thinking ahead however. Just in case she has also booked me a flight from Chicago at 11:55AM to get into Colorado Springs at 1:30PM. That will give me JUST ENOUGH time to make it to start photographing the Groom's men at 2:00 PM.
The rest of the story to get to "The Blessed Day" is to be continued...
The part of trusting God is here. There has to be something great in store for this wedding if it's causing this bride and groom so much stress thinking that there photographer just may not make it. What does that mean for me... I'm still waiting for God to show me. One thing I do know. When all the odds are against you, God steps in. That's when He can get the most glory.
